Personal Statement
Coaches, thanks for taking the time to read my profile.
I played several sports when I was younger, but immediately fell in love with basketball. In elementary school, I studied NBA games and did my own running commentary. I’ve spent thousands of hours hooping it up on my driveway. I started out playing Upward basketball, then moved onto YMCA and select. I played with Drive Nation last year and this year I’m playing with Team FOE 15U for AAU ball.
I played Varsity at Grapevine Faith last year as a freshman and will continue this year as a sophomore. Our team made it to the Final Four for the first time since 2004 and it was a really cool experience.
Academically, I’m excelling at school. I have a 4.12 GPA and I’m in Student Council and Student Leadership University.
Outside of school, I am the President of the Young Men’s Service League (YMSL) Pacesetter Chapter. I really enjoy volunteering and developing leadership skills. I’ve had a great time serving this year at the CCA Food Pantry, North Texas Food Bank, LISD Back to School Fair and a few other places. I like reading books like “The Leadership Playbook” by Jamy Bechler. I attend Gateway Church in Southlake, and I strive to glorify God in everything I do.
This Spring/Summer I focused on getting faster, bigger and stronger.
One more thing you should know about me is that I’m a team player. It’s always we before me in my book.
I look forward to visiting with you and hearing more about your Men’s basketball program.
Thank you,
Grant Rein
“Grant is as clean and fundamental as they come, he uses his feet extremely well, is a shot-maker, and plays with a ton of poise and pace. Defensively he is a team defender and is in the right place at the right time. Will shoot the three-pointer and score in bunches, is a reliable ball-handler. “ - Texas Hoops/ GASO ( September, 2020 evaluation from the Duncanville Tops in Texas Combine.)
