Since age seven, swimming has been an influential part of my life, and I have wanted to swim collegiately for a long time. In addition to my dedication to club and high school teams, maintaining a 4.34 weighted GPA demonstrates my ability to focus on both swimming and academics. I am now poised to bring my swimming prowess and academic pursuits to the collegiate level. My versatility differentiates me from other recruits. I am mainly a breaststroker, but enjoy distance and IM sets, as well. As a state-level cross-country runner, I value cross-training to increase aerobic capacity and enable me to push through longer sets during more difficult training and ultimately become a better swimmer. I am outgoing, happy, and positive which makes me a good teammate and fun to train with. I encourage the swimmers around me, and I complete the workouts without complaining which makes it easier for the people around me to focus on the sets.
I am proud to be a nine-time participant in Swim Across America, an open water swim that raises money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment with local contributions to-date exceeding $2 million. My admiration for human anatomy at the structural and biological level led me to pursue pre-med as my major course of study. A career in the medical field will allow me to serve others while developing critical thinking and decision-making skills with increased patience and attention to detail. In my precious few minutes of spare time, I enjoy creating art, baking, and learning Mandarin.
