I am a class of 2022 diver. I missed my sophomore season as so many others did due to the pandemic, and we are now getting close to wrapping up our Colorado High School season. It has been really great to be back in the pool after missing all of last spring and a good portion of the summer and fall due to local state and county restrictions. You probably already know that in CO we only compete 1m Springboard, though I am practicing 3m with my local club now that we have a location to practice again, and I do have an 11 dive list for 3m.
A little about me:
I live in Fort Collins, Colorado with my parents and sister. I am the current 1m 11 dive record holder at Fort Collins High School, and recently had my personal best score of 514.45 this year at our local district meet. I finished our delayed season ranked #5 in the state in 5A and was named to the All-Conference Team following my first place finish at our Front Range Conference Meet on 6/18. I am honored that my team just voted me Captain for 2021-22.
I am looking to major in Biology with the ability to focus on conservation, wildlife, and/or animal biology/zoology. I hope to go on to graduate school and specifically study/do research in Herpetology.
My current GPA is 3.89 unweighted, and 3.98 weighted. I scored a 29 on the ACT and plan to take it again July 17. I have 2 part time jobs, one as a lifeguard and one as a line cook at my family’s restaurant. In addition to some smaller annual community service projects with my 4H club, I volunteer 3 weekends a month with the Northern Colorado Herpetological Society. I also provide a foster home for reptiles while they are waiting to be adopted. I am also a member of my school’s Science Olympiad team, Link Leaders (which helps with freshman orientation every fall), and the National Honor Society.
I am looking at schools less for a specific size or competitive division, and more for what I can accomplish out of the pool in addition to in the pool. I would like to continue to dive in college because I love the sport, but also because I would like to continue to have the sense of camaraderie and family I have with my current high school team.
