Clayton Catherwood '25 Recruiting Profile

I am a 15 year old well rounded athlete that loves golf.  I started my athletic endeavours playing rep levels of box lacrosse, hockey and soccer.  When Covid struck in 2020 all of my aforementioned sports were canceled.  Golf was about the only athletic thing we could do and my mom and I started going to the range and playing together. I quickly became obsessed with the sport and haven’t looked back since.  I started golfing almost every day that summer and quickly saw my scores improve.  At, the end of that summer I played in my first competition and am now hooked on playing in competition whenever I can.  The following year, I joined my school golf academy and got some coaching which helped accelerate my improvement in the game.  My goal is to pursue playing NCAA golf at the highest level I can.

I am a very strong student that does well in all academics. My current GPA is 3.8.  In sixth grade I switched from English education to Late French Immersion.  In the last 4 years I have become bilingual with fluency in French.  

In the off season, when it is tougher to golf  due to the weather, I continue to play midget rep A hockey to keep myself in shape. My parents and siblings are all athletic as well.  My twin sister is a high level soccer player that also desires to pursue playing in university as well.  My dad speaks very fondly of his time playing university sports in Canada and the USA and I would love to make those same memories for myself.

I believe that I have a lot of potential in golf and am dedicating myself to my craft in the hopes of pursuing golf at the university level. I look forward to tournament season this year and am homing my skills to try and have my most successful year to date.
