My goals for college is that I would like to achieve my undergraduate degree in Data Analytics/Machine Learning/Cybersecurity and play collegiate golf. I am a good candidate for golf and academic teams because I work with my JROTC cybersecurity team & school golf team to compete in state and national level competitions. To be successful in these team competitions there needs to be collaboration, support for each other, and being coachable. Although Golf and Computer Science may seem very distantly related, my experiences with my Cybersecurity team have shaped my philosophy and passion in Golf. Cybersecurity competitions last about 4 hours, like a typical 18 hole round, and requires a high level of focus, endurance, and problem solving to achieve success. These values and characteristics have carried over to my golf game such as problem solving an errant tee shot, staying calm and focused under pressure, and persevering to reduce my mistakes. Managing competitive Golf with school and my other responsibilities is not an easy task, but I manage myself because I am a self sufficient, hard working student-athlete who has a daily routine to make the best use of my 24 hours,1,440 minutes, 86,400 seconds every day. Time is a very important aspect of the game of Golf such as 40 seconds to play a shot or 3 minutes to look for a ball, and managing time on and off the course is an essential tool for my success. I also value sportsmanship and etiquette to the highest degree and accept both wins and losses as opportunities to learn and grow to eventually become a better player, person, and citizen.
