Personal Statement
I just finished my first season of golf on the Kaneland Varsity golf team. 2018 was a huge year for the team and for myself. We made it to the state tournament for the first time since 2012 and since I played in every varsity tournament, I have a lot of pride in what we accomplished finishing 7th in the state.
Some of my other golf highlights include: winning the Ryder Cup Youth Skills Challenge at Medinah in 2012, winning the Fox Bend Junior Open in 2017, placing fourth place in both sectionals and state for the 2017 IESA State Championship with a score of 75 in each round (this was the first year my middle school had a golf team), winning the IJGA event at Bonnie Dundee in the summer of 2018, qualifying for the IJGA Player of the Year Championship in 2018, and earning my way to Augusta National as a National Finalist for the 2019 Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship.
My dad introduced me to golf when I was very young, and ever since then I have loved the game. My favorite thing about golf is the challenge, both physically and mentally. I love being able to plan out golf shots and then successfully execute them. Golf is endlessly challenging yet rewarding, and I enjoy working on my skills and seeing my scores improve.
I am currently ranked third in my class with a 4.14 GPA while also continuing to work on my golf game, participating on the high school basketball team, and playing travel soccer. I am trying hard every day to improve, whether it is practicing or just thinking about the game. I love golf so much and I cannot imagine my life without it. I will do whatever it takes to play college golf.
