January 2023Personal Statement
My name is Jake Guse and I’m currently a Sophomore at Rockford Lutheran in Rockford Illinois. I currently carry a 3.9 cumulative GPA while being a 3 sport athlete for my school.
I was moved to Varsity in all 3 sports as a Freshman. In baseball I play every position but mainly pitcher and shortstop. Basketball I’m a guard and contributing to our team that is ranked in State.
But golf is my passion as I dedicate myself to become the best player I can. My freshman year I was All-Conference and made it to the Sectionals. Going into summer prior to my Sophomore year I started the season as a 4 handicap but put tons of time in and finished this past season as a +.8 handicap. I won numerous big tournaments over the summer and help lead my high school team to qualify for state as I finished up 4th overall individually.
My swing speed is currently at 125mph but I’m currently continuing to improve my entire game. With personal weight training and continuous practice I aspire to play golf at the highest level possible while trying to find the best college that would be the best fit.
