Hi my name is Eli Schoenberg
Ever since I started golf I knew I wanted to play at the collegiate level, because the game of golf always keeps me on my toes and it is a never-ending battle of highs and lows. I love the competition of golf, you are not only playing others to have the lowest score but you are playing yourself and the course as well.
Something that sets me apart from the rest is that between the ages of four and eight, My home was a small boat named Sisu on the ocean. I was too young to realize it then but this journey would have a profound effect on who I would become, what I believe is possible, and what I can achieve. When I was four years old my parents decided to quit their jobs, take my two siblings and me out of school, and set off for a year-long sailboat trip through the entire US coast and throughout the Bahamas. We all lived on a 36ft sailboat but it was not a trip full of luxury as our friends from home imagined. We worked as crew, we walked everywhere when on land, carried our groceries and water for sometimes miles, and had to live minimally at times- there is only so much room on a boat- and some places fresh supplies were scarce- but it afforded us a great breadth of experiences that I will never forget. This year-long trip eventually led to two years, because my family decided to set off again when I was seven. This experience taught me to be hardworking dedicated and think differently.
