Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Bryce

Thanks for looking at my profile.

I have always loved golf since my dad introduced me to it when I was three years old and started playing in US Kids tournaments when I was about 8 years old. I have always been tall for my age and able to hit the ball pretty far, but I’ve always loved chipping and putting much more. Anytime I’m having a bad round, I know my short game can save me.

I have been homeschooled my entire life and I enjoy it. I work really hard in school and currently have a 3.9 GPA. My favorite subjects are math and science, which are also very useful in knowing how the golf swing works. My goal for the future is to play golf at any collegiate level that I can. I strive every day to be a better follower of Christ and a teammate. I am excited to continue growing in my future, and can not wait what God has played for me in playing the sport I love at the next level.

Thank You.

I hope you will consider me for your 2025 class.

Bryce Cale

  • Par/Yardage/Slope/Rating: 72/6970/126/73.7 - Shot 72 - I placed T5th and lost to a few notable players such as OU commit Ryder Cowan, K-State commit Bryant Polhill, and one of my teammates Grayson Ham. This was my final Highschool tournament of the year and wanted to have a strong finish, it wasn't looking good when it had rained for 3 days straight before, but I was excited about the tournament and to go out there and give it my best. In my round, I had 3 bogies and 3 birdies. I hit 16 greens and 64% of fairways, with this I wish I could've done better, though I could blame it on the greens, I should've just done a better job getting it closer to the hole. Overall I had a great time, and playing with Ryder Cowan was an awesome experience.

  • Par/Yardage/Slope/Rating: 71/6576/131/72.2 - shot 76/78 - Placed 43rd out of 73. Going into this tournament I honestly had no confidence in being able even to hit the ball, but as I thought about it I decided to just forget everything I had been trying in the last week, and try to have a short memory. The first round was full of ups and downs and I thought I wasn't playing too bad compared to how I had been before, but looking back on the round I feel I could've done a lot better by just focusing a little bit more. In the second round, I felt like I played much better there were just some bad decisions that I made and some unlucky things that I let get to my head, and through the two days, I shot +9 on par 5s which is just terrible. This tournament was great though, it really helped me learn what I need to work on and get better at physically and mentally. Stats: Round 1: Greens - 61% Fairways - 69% Putts - 34 - 1 up & down. Round 2: Greens - 39% Fairways - 62% Putts - 29 - 2 up & downs.

  • Par/Yardage/Slope/Rating: 72/6970/126/73.7 - Shot 79/73 - I played in the 15-18 age division. I placed 35th out of 45. Going into the first round of the tournament I felt confident in my ability to manage the course, despite recently getting new Irons. The worst part of my game was not my irons but it was my putting, I had 33 putts which for me is not great at all, I hit 50% greens and 79% fairways. I was 3 over after the first nine and the bogey on nine got a little in my head which proceeded to me doubling 10 and 11. After seeing this I regained my focus and was able to par out the last 7 holes, even though I didn't get a birdie to fall, I was happy to finish strong. Going into the second round I knew I didn't have a realistic chance of getting top 5, so I just tried my best and had fun, while trying to do better than the day before. My putting yet again failed me, and I had 33 putts again except this time I hit 78% greens. I had 3 bogies on the front again, but I also had one birdie. This time around I didn't let it get to my head on the back nine and I proceeded to hit all 9 greens on the back but only 1 putt was able to drop for a -1 back nine and a +1 total. Beating my previous tournament best by 1 stroke. Overall it was a fun event and I can't wait for the fall season!

  • 6/27/22 to 6/28/22
  • Par/Yardage/Slope/Rating: 71/6729/136/73.5 - Shot 79/84 - This Tournament was open to anyone ages 15-18. I placed 21st out of 46 players. Going into this Tournament I was feeling pretty good, This was my first time playing this course in the summertime, so I knew the basic layout of the course, but after my practice round, I mapped out the course and felt comfortable going into round one of the tournament. The first day I shot 79, which I wasn't mad about at all, of course, I could've done much better, but I fought for every stroke and caught a couple of unlucky breaks. I hit 44% of fairways and greens. Going into the second round I felt confident I could do better after only being 6 strokes behind the leader. I shot 84, which I'm not satisfied with, but I know I struck the ball really well. I believe I was chasing perfection too much in that round which made me extra aggressive, which backfired on me. I learned after this tournament that I need to have a plan and stick to it, and that the game of golf is much more than physical, it's also a mental game. Knowing this I can't wait to keep grinding and play in my next tournament.

  • 6/06/22 to 6/09/22
  • Par/Yardage/Slope/Rating: 71/6576/131/72.2 - Shot 73/37 - This tournament had two age groups 14-15 and 16-18. I played in the 14-15 division which had 20 players. There were supposed to be two 18-hole rounds of stroke play and then the top 16 in each age division would qualify for match play, but because of multiple weather delays, the second round was shortened to 9 holes. Going into the tournament my swing felt good and the conditions were excellent, having played the course many times I felt confident in my ability to work my way around it. In the first nine holes, I was scrambling a lot and only hit 2 greens, had no birdies, and 3 bogies. Coming onto the back nine, I knew I could turn things around, and I hit 8 greens, The only green I missed was because I had to punch out of the trees but I ended up making a 60ft putt downhill for par, I had 2 birdies and only 1 bogie. After waiting in the clubhouse for about 5 hours waiting for the rain to calm down we finally got to play our second round of only 9 holes. Nothing too special happened, I hit 6 greens and made 1 bogie the rest were pars, and I had secured the 7th spot in match play. In my first round of match play I played Brock Jerman, through 5 holes I was 3 up and stayed that way until hole 14 where I hit a 5 iron from 225yds to 2ft for a tap-in eagle. I ended up winning 4 and 2. My second match was against Preston Albee, I wasn't playing my best round that day and made a few bad bogies that cost me, while Preston was playing really well. Preston ended up beating me 7 and 6. I learned a lot about my game during this tournament and can't wait to get better and play in my next tournament.

Going into the tournament get confident didn’t have high expectations going through a swing change and never had played the course before, it also being my first tournament of the season. Didn’t play great the first day pretty tough conditions. Second round struck the ball well just got some bad breaks, wind 30-40 mph, didn’t play much better but it was an improvement. Placed 46th out of 60. Winner shot -3.
