Austin Wagner '15 Recruiting Profile

I was born and raised in Canada and moved to the Houston Texas area when I was 10 years old.  In Canada, I played Hockey, Baseball and Golf for fun.  It wasn't until I moved to Texas in 2007 when I decided to focus more on golf as I was able to play year-round.  Although I do miss playing hockey, I love to be able to play golf all year long while my friends back home are hanging up their clubs for the winter.....LOL

I am a member of the Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress, Texas and have been a member there for the past 4 years. I regularly play on the Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT), the Texas Legends Junior Golf Tour and the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA). I work very hard on my game and feel that the strongest part of my game is my short game (chipping and putting).  I am working hard to improve my ball striking consistency to allow my scoring to be more consistent.  I am also working my hardest in school to improve my grades and GPA.  I currently have plans to write the ACT and/or SAT in the next couple of months.

I would love to play college golf and experience playing on a team environment.  I have always dreamed about playing professional golf on the PGA Tour or another tour such as the European Tour or Sunshine Tour and travel the world, but it is very important to me to obtain a degree in the process while playing college golf.

I have a very positive attitude and hard work ethics which would only benefit any college team that I could be a part of.  I understand that the mental part of the game of golf is extremely important and that not all days will be your best on the golf course.  I feel that it is very important to learn from each golfing experience to make yourself a better player.

I would love to play for a college team which has a very dedicated team environment whose golf program is extremely important.  My ultimate goal would be to play on the PGA Tour but I strongly feel that the best of my golfing ability has yet to come.
