Competing at the state tournament as a freshman was a very big turning point in my junior golf career so far. I wasn't the sharpest on the course during the tournament but it allowed me to learn about the importance of staying focused and also how to keep myself composed on the course. After playing in that tournament, I used the experience to work even harder and become more determined to win. The sport has proved that I am a hard worker, and a highly competitive athlete. I have learned that I don't like losing but I always look at what I can improve after every round, win or lose.
I have been playing golf ever since the age of 6. My grandpa would take me out to practice and play a few holes. Eventually, it became my passion and I started playing competitive events at the age of 13. The summer before my freshman year was a challenge as I could never put a complete round together. I knew I had to work hard over the long winter. I persevered and earned a spot on the Varsity Golf Team. The hard work and dedication in golf carries over to my academics as I currently hold a GPA of 3.85. I am looking forward to playing collegiate golf in a competative environment and plan to study Turfgrass Management, but I would also like to keep an open mind toward other majors.
