My ultimate goal in hockey is to play in the NHL. I believe that competing at the NCAA Division I level while simultaneously completing my undergraduate degree is the best option for me. This will allow me to tremendously advance my game while training with some of the best athletes on the planet. In pursuit of this goal, I am currently playing with the St. Georges U17 Academy in the CSSHL. I am hoping to play in the BCHL next year, which will give me a better opportunity to improve my speed, strength, and ability to make an impact at a higher level.
My coaches and teammates would describe me as a very hardworking and dedicated player who always puts his best effort forward. Every day, I wake up and ask myself what I need to do that day to make myself a better hockey player, and then I do it. I am a leader through my work ethic on the ice, in training, and at school. I am a valuable asset to a team through my speed, scoring/playmaking ability, skill as a two-way player, hockey IQ, coach-ability, and my tenacity.
One characteristic that differentiates me from other recruits is my ability to bring the dedication and work ethic I have for hockey into my education. At times, balancing coursework in a rigorous academic environment alongside my training on and off the ice can be challenging; however, I work very hard and have managed to attain over a 90% average every year at St. Georges. I imagine my transition to university will be easier than other recruits as my current work ethic in a rigorous academic environment will transfer forward.
I am aware that playing hockey at the NCAA Division I level is challenging, but I work my hardest every day hours on end, and won't stop until I achieve my goals. I am hopeful that I will have the opportunity to compete at the Division I collegiate level, and eventually the NHL.
