When I was younger my parents signed me up for multiple sports, so I could see which sport I enjoyed the most. From the age of 5, I played hockey, soccer, and baseball, and as I followed through with these sports, I decided to pursue hockey as I had a great passion for the game. I fell in love with the speed and flow, but also how inviting and friendly the hockey community felt. During my first couple of years in hockey, I found myself wanting to be a goalie because I saw it as a more interesting and ‘cool’ position. It was all I wanted to play after I strapped up the pads and played in games.
As I continued with hockey, I found myself becoming a better person; more optimistic and confident. At a young age, I learned that the main goal of playing hockey was to have fun, but required great responsibility: hard work, being coachable, being a good teammate, respect for the game and officials, and personal sacrifice. I realized I was doing much more than most kids. Practices and dryland training took up many early mornings and late nights while I still had to maintain good grades at school. I adapted to my busy schedule as it was what was required if I wanted to continue playing hockey at the highest level.
In school, I strive to be the best version of myself, work hard, collaborate with my peers, and always hand in my assignments on time. I currently have a 90% average or a 3.9 GPA in my grade 10 year at St. George’s School. I want to pursue a university education and play hockey at the highest level as an NCAA student-athlete. I am open to any and all opportunities within the NCAA, but ultimately the right fit.
