Being a child of a military family has taught me a lot. Moving from state to state every few years has afforded me the opportunity to play on numerous hockey teams and learn from many coaches. It is not always easy, but it has helped me become independent and responsible. It has taught me to be resilient and how to be a leader. I have been playing hockey since the age of five when I started in Newark, Delaware. Since then I have played on teams in Kansas City, Missouri, Colorado and now with the Under Armour Patriots U16AAA in Woodbridge, Virginia. Last year, while playing on the U15 Patriots High Performance team, we won the USPHL U16 Futures Division. This year I am a first-line defenseman for the U16AAA team. As a defenseman I am described as dependable and smart by both my teammates and coaches. One of the greatest moments for me was playing in the Bauer Invitational in Chicago and being named MVP when I played U14AAA for the Colorado Rampage. I was also the assistant captain on that team. Although that team was not one of the strongest in our division, with the help of an amazing coach I learned that being a team player and a developing into leader is more important than winning. I have a strong work ethic and I hope that helps me fulfill my dream of playing hockey at the collegiate level and pursuing a degree in sports medicine or physical therapy.
