Michael Colavecch...Personal Statement
I currently row for Norwalk River Rowing Association. I can row both port and starboard (starboard preferred), and can scull. Ever since I stepped in a boat for the first time, I fell in love with the sport. Rowing in college has been something I have dreamt of since that moment and I understand that collegiate rowing is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I strive to be one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find, both in and out of the classroom. I study hard and maintain a high GPA whilst challenging myself with honors and AP courses.
As a team captain, I do my best to be a motivating leader who pushes everyone closer to their full potential. I lead by example and am a very coachable athlete. I try and encourage my teammates every practice, race, and competition.
I understand that collegiate recruitment is highly selective and competitive and am prepared to do my very best throughout the process.

- summer rowing based training entails: l 20k meters in morning in quads. short intense erg workouts based on rowing hard around 24spm. dynamic stretches. weight session including compound movements. after lunch is small boat training (doubles, singles, etc.) This was everyday over the summer. low controlled ratings.
