I've been rowing and training on the Ridgewood Crew team for the past three years. Under head coach, Boris Roque Alvarez, I have developed my technique on the water as a scullers as well as my leadership skills through being a coxswain.
I take academics very seriously challenging myself with both honors and AP level classes. I am enrolled in RAHP (Ridgewood Academy for Health Professionals), an honors and AP level program, which I applied to and was accepted into that focuses on students who have an interest in pursuing a career with health or medical professions through a three-year program with rigorous courses and experiences in the town’s hospital. My interests outside of rowing include hiking, walking, cycling, music, sudokus, and baking.
I would like to attend a college that takes academics and athletic improvement as seriously as I do. Through every race whether I won or lost, I have always found a way to push myself that much harder. Whether it be through my 2 gold medals my junior year as a coxswain during erg races, or working on the water to improve my calls to help my crews as a coxswain, or to improve technique as a sculler on the water and on the erg bringing my erg scores down.
Not only am I a passionate rower and athlete, but I am committed to my team and teammates. During regattas and practices when I am not on the water I strive to be with the coaches helping to catch and launch teammates and loading the trailer with boats, oars, riggers, and slings. Thank you for your consideration in me, as I hope to one day add as a valuable member of your crew team, in the same way as I have on my high school crew team.
