I started rowing during COVID at the end of my Freshman year. I was looking for a way to get strong and to gain mental discipline, crew seemed like it would help. Getting up at 4:30 for morning practice by itself was hard, but learning how to wake up, excited, and ready for practice even when I hadn't slept or just didn't want to go has been one of the most valuable things I have learned. I became obsessed with rowing and it became the favorite part of my day, I decided that I wanted to be a leader on the team. Into my junior year I was consistently getting the best erg times and our 1V8 that I stroked went to Head of the Charles for the first time in 10 years. I learned to be an effective leader and connect to each of my teammates, especially those who were in my boat, and convince every person to give 110%.
