2023 HighlightsPersonal Statement
I am a good candidate for any team beacuse I come from a smaller rowing team. That may sound odd, but because I am part of a team from a small town I need to know how to sweep port and starboard as well as scull. Depending on the racing season I could be a part of a four, quad, pair, double or single and I need to be ready for whatever boat my coach needs. I understand the basic mechanics of rigging and can make adjustments as needed. Because I am from a small team, there aren't enough people to specialize in just one thing, so I need to know how to do many things.
What makes me different from other recruits is that I am from a country town with a high poverty rate among kids my age. Rowing is a real pathway out of my town and a way for me to get a great education. I set high expectations and goals for myself- I'm the person that you are going to see at the gym when I'm not at practice.

- Rowed for Mobjack Rowing Association in the Men’s Junior Double as a 12 year old novice rower. Placed 14th with a time of 23:20—knocking a whole minute off a previous five-kilometer time. The lineup also had the youngest average age of all boats entered—14 years old. All other entries in the race had an average age of 16 to 18 years old. Tomcany was the youngest rower in the event.
