Personal Statement
My love for basketball started at an early age. Basketball is a sport I've been playing since third grade with dedication and passion. I just finished my first year of JV, as an 8th grader. My plans are to improve ball handling and shooting skills before moving on to the Varsity team. I will become a team member of Gloucester-Mathews AAU which may be merging with a Newport News AAU team in Spring of 2020 for further training and improvement. My goal is to play basketball for a college or university women’s team and successfully lead them to a championship.
My skills have improved since third grade, thanks to my Nana, by my attendance to overnight Nike sports camps for three years at the College of William and Mary. This enabled me to meet new friends and basketball players with different skill sets, who shared the same love for basketball as I do. I focused on teamwork, the knowledge of the game, and the importance of each position. Basketball has also taught me how to listen to instructions and follow through with my intent which helps in my academic studies.
With the help of the NCSA support team and Coach Scholl as well as my dedication for the sport and passion for the game I will become a better player, team mate and competitor. At this time, I can play all positions. This season I played Pt. Guard and Power Forward. I am focused on improvement, constructive criticism and development to achieve my goal as a college/university basketball player. I am looking for a college or university who believes in me and has the same desire to win a championship game.
