I want to row in college because I love the challenge and teamwork that come with the sport. As a team captain, I’ve learned how to lead by example and keep my teammates motivated, even when things get tough. One of my proudest moments was helping my boat place second at the state championships. It showed me how far hard work and trust in your crew can go. Earlier this year, I tore my lat, which took me out of training for a while. It was tough to sit on the sidelines, but I stayed involved, focused on recovery, and came back stronger and more determined. That experience taught me a lot about patience and mental toughness.
In school, I’ve kept a 4.0 GPA while taking honors and AP classes, and I always make sure academics stay a priority. I’m the kind of person who gives full effort in everything I do, whether it’s early morning workouts, leading warmups, or helping a teammate fix their technique. I don’t just want to be on a team, I want to contribute, improve every day, and help others do the same. I’m excited to take the next step and bring that same mindset to a college program.
