Personal Statement
After winning MVP of my JV soccer team in 9th grade, I was almost certain I would make varsity the next year. Despite my hopes, I was cut once again and placed on JV for a second straight year, with many of my previous JV teammates now on varsity. Rather than being angry and jealous, I congratulated them, and focused on the JV season ahead.
After working hard half the season, I was pulled up to the Varsity squad. I went on the play a key role in helping win the state championship that year. It taught me to keep my head high through adversity, trusting that everything happens for a purpose. I could have given up after not making the team, but I didn’t, and eventually succeeded. I carry on this mentality every day, both on the field and in the classroom.
