I wanted to tell you a little more about me. I live in Riverside, CA with my family.
I attend Arlington high school in Riverside. My overall GPA is 3.9. My GPA for grades 10-12 is 4.05. My freshman year was the Covid year, and distance learning was hard on both the students and teachers. I have taken AP and honors courses throughout high school. I think these courses have prepared me for the college classroom. Since I was little, my parents have discussed college with me. It has been expected that I will attend college, regardless of whether I play soccer. Being a collegiate athlete has been a dream of mine since I was little.
My dad is a managing attorney at his law firm and practices family law. He attended the University of California at Santa Barbara. He then went on to downtown Los Angeles for law school at Southwestern University School of Law. He speaks highly of his time at UCSB. He talks about his experiences living in the dorms. He talks about the classes that he took. He tells me about the first year of law school.
My mom is a registered nurse at Riverside Community Hospital. She works in the cardiac unit. She went to California State University Fullerton. She had a different college experience from my dad. She went to Riverside City College first and received her nursing degree and began working as an RN. She then went to CSUF for her bachelor’s degree.
I have 2 brothers. My oldest brother went to Cal State San Marcos, and he is a salesman for a solar company. He talks to me about his friends that he met while in college and in his fraternity. My youngest brother also went to Cal State San Marcos and is a high school English teacher. My sister is the controller at my dad’s law firm, and she attended Cal State Los Angeles. My brothers lived in the dorms at San Marcos and talk about their college experience very fondly. My sister commuted from home and had a different college experience than my brothers.
Our family is very close. Most of my family comes to my soccer games, especially the high school matches. My high school is in Division 1 in Southern California, and we have been ranked very high in the last couple of years. Last year, we went undefeated through the year, losing in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS playoffs. As the center back and one of the leaders on defense, I am proud that we only allowed 9 goals during the year. We are approaching our high school season; we are ranked 4th in Division 1.
My Club team is 05/06 Albion EA. We have been ranked nationally in the top five for over two years. Last season, we also went undefeated. We played for the national championship in Dallas and lost in the semifinal. We have played in the National Championship tournament 3 times in the last 5 years. We have won the Surf Cup twice, won the Man City tournament once and finalist another time. The big tournaments and games have prepared me for the next level in college.
I want to study business or economics. I have been researching your majors and programs. I want to work in commercial real estate.
Last, we have completed the FAFSA and we don’t qualify for any financial aid. My parents are not looking for a scholarship or money to play at the collegiate level. I think that I am prepared both in the classroom and on the field for the university level.
