Hi, I'm Chase Hawthorne. I'm a 16 year old sophomore from northern New Jersey, and soccer has always been one of my greatest passions. From the time I could walk, I've been found with a ball at my feet. I've played club soccer from the time I was 5 1/2, and have never lost the love of the game, or the drive to get better. I live in a part of the country with really quality clubs around, and I've played at several of them: TSF, World Class, Arsenal Academy, STA, and my current club, Stateline.
I'm really excited about getting the opportunity to play at a collegiate level. It's been a dream of mine to play college soccer, and I realize the time is fast approaching that I'll need to be making some of those decisions. I'd love the opportunity to have you see what I can provide on and off the field. On the field, I'm a driven midfielder--typically CM, CAM, or CDM. I've played other positions as well, but I'm most comfortable facing the goal and taking advantage of scoring opportunities or creating great opportunities for my teammates.
I've played at a number of levels in my club career: USYS, EDP, NL, and ODP. This year, I moved from the 39th ranked team in NJ to the 10th ranked team, and had the chance to not only compete with the NJ ODP team, but also was one of 6 NJ players called into the Eastern Region ID Camp. I've started for my high school's Varsity team for both my freshman and sophomore year, and have been a solid contributor of both goals and assists.
When not on the field, I still have my head in the game. I'm a big fan of the game and love watching the Prem (Go Gunners!) as well as the MLS (New York is Red). I've also had opportunities to learn from amazing players through the years--my "big brother" was a Defender of the Year at UC Davis and played for the Red Bulls. He also lived with us and trained me while he was here. I currently get to spend time around the Red Bulls, as my Dad is the chaplain of the team for the last 9 years.
In addition to the game, some of my other passions are spending fun times with my teammates off the field, and serving at my church each Sunday in the 3rd-5th grade ministry.
I hope that gives you a good idea of who I am and the kind of heart and drive I can bring to your program. Attitude and effort are the things we can control, and wherever I land for college, the program will get the best of both from me.
