Steven Ortiz-Ortiz '20 Recruiting Profile

I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I’m an absolute soccer prodigy, that at the age of 6 I had won three championships or whatever because I didn’t. But I will say this: I don’t care what team I’m playing, I don’t care if it’s a pickup game or a final you can bet that I’m telling my defense they’re out of place, to mark a man, I throw myself down and I sweep people out. Maybe I’m not different from other people in that aspect, but I do my research to make myself better. I wouldn’t say that’s hard working because looking up videos on how to high dive and how to distribute balls cans be done by any moron, myself included. But I try to put those things into practice, and I try to use what I’m taught in games and to further myself skill wise.  As for academics, well besides the couple of national awards that I’ve won, two for Spanish and one for an essay, I’m not special and I admit that wholeheartedly. I try in school and I try in soccer, because they’re both huge parts of my life, so I might as well use them. I also play the saxophone, and have been for 9 years. Maybe that’s not important to you but maybe it is. I have played soccer for 12. I say that to show the dedication to what I have in my life, because I love both with a passion and want to further myself in both careers. Thank you.
