Swimming during high school has been challenging. Freshman year I broke my shoulder, sophomore year I received a severe concussion and then a pandemic interrupted training my junior year. Fortunately, I had a new coach sophomore year who worked with me, encouraged me and further ignited my passion for swimming. I am pushing myself to improve and excited to see my progress. Practice is fun this year as I am stronger and believe I am swimming better than ever. Sadly, all meets have been canceled since early 2020 and I haven't been able to update my times during an actual competition.
I hope to swim in college because I love challenging myself while being part of a team. My favorite memory was hugging my teammates when we qualified for the state 400 free relay at our district meet, our last chance to qualify. We worked hard and achieved a goal, it felt really good.
I have high standards for myself academically. I am interested in international studies, history and business. I participated in a German exchange program one summer and plan to study abroad during college. I am excited to meet new people and start new adventures after high school. I look forward to the opportunities college will afford me.
