Kevin Young Jr '17 Recruiting Profile

I, Kevin M. Young Jr, am unique in many ways. But one of the big reasons that I am unique and useful is because I am a global leader.  In the summer of 2015, I was awarded a scholarship to study in China through a program named APSA which is funded by the Bank of China and 100,000 Strong Foundation. This trip changed me from a local little minded leader to a global leader. Although I was always surrounded by people from different backgrounds as myself,  I learned to embrace people even more and I don't have any biases towards race, religion, sex, or sexual preference. I am unique because I can lead a group of people to greatness or even lead myself to greatness.

My swimming goal is to swim under a coach that can help me continue to tap into even more of my potential and really pull out some of my hidden strengths. I want to make it to Nationals and I currently strive every practice to make that goal a reality. I even where pajama pants during my workouts! But I also want to bring something to my team too. I want to bring my leadership skills, and even sometimes my humorous, joking side to the team. 

My goal in college is to major in aeronautic engineering (if offered) or mechanical engineering and then earn my master's in aeronautic engineering with a goal of becoming a business owner with a robotics/ game design business. I am the chess club leader and founder at my school and this has made me very strategic and this is necessary for any sport, is it not? I was also the most improved player on my schools varsity flag football team and I believe that improvement is necessary in any field in the world.
