I have been swimming most of my life, and I find that the experience of being part of a team while doing something you love, adds to the enjoyment. Being part of my high school swim team, cheering others from the pool deck, has ranked among the best times of my life. Until recently, I was a member of a highly competitive USA Club Team, where there was much less focus on the comradery of the sport. The fastest swimmers got the most attention, leading many of my friends to either leave swimming all together or move to different teams. I made the decision, pretty late in my high school swimming career, to leave that team as well. I am currently swimming for MASK, a smaller USA Club Team. What I have learned is that since I have been surrounded by a positive group of swimmers, and coaches that inspire me to be the best I can be both individually and for the team, my times have actually dropped in the last two months! I made Sectionals and States this year, which I did not think was possible for me. I was at a point that I was thinking about quitting swimming, and now I feel like I have more opportunity to improve over the next year before going to college. I am also an Eagle Scout Candidate currently working on my project and hoping to complete it during the summer of 2017.
