Personal Statement
Staying mentally tough has always been a challenge for me. For a long time I found myself constantly frustrated with my game, hindering my ability to play well. As a result, I decided to enroll in Center Court Tennis Academy in Morristown, NJ. While I was only there for a year, I was taught to control my emotions and learned the importance of mental toughness. That year established a new fire in me to constantly improve and work on both the physical and mental aspect of my game.
As I began playing High school tennis I focused on implementing what I had learned at the Academy and this helped me significantly during my three seasons of play. More importantly it helped develop my skills as a leader and throughout my High school career I made it my job to inspire and lead my teammates by example. I reinforced the importance of the mental side of tennis and believe my teammates were able to grow their own games from this redirected focus. In college I plan on continuing to grow as a player; improving my court skills while keeping a strong focus on maintaining a good mentality.
