As a year round Track/Cross Country athlete competing my whole high school career, I've learned a lot about myself as a runner and athlete. Each season has given me more lessons and insight on the sport of running which allows me to constantly improve my times throughout my running career. In the sport of track and cross country, I am a part of a family of runners which I believe is commonly overlooked in such an individual and competitive sport. A little about my personal achievements, I have gone to state opens all 3 seasons for every year I've ran starting my freshman year of cross country. I am also a 2023 cross country all-New England (Regional) athlete as of my junior year of high school running a 15:56 5k. Besides my times and standings, even more than that, I believe that my most impressive trait is how I've managed to constantly break so much time off between seasons. As said by Marty Ogden (Senior correspondent of ¨My Sports Results¨ timing system) he said in an interview what amazed him about me was not only my times and place in races, but the fact that every single race I manage to improve by so much time. Not only as an athlete, but as a student, I’ve also managed to recover my grades and GPA from previous with my most recent quarter GPA being a 90.8 on 100 scale (3.7 out of 4.0). This is a big improvement for me due to having a low GPA My freshman year. A little more about me before my track career, I played hockey for 9 years since I was 5 years old and lacrosse for 5 years which both ended due to a concussion, however, even though my strong career in both sports sadly ended, this shows I´ve always been engaged in sports. This had to be the hardest obstacle to overcome however because I needed to start completely over at a new sport but I was still able to recover and make progress in running very fast due to my drive and work ethic to be the best athlete I could be. Besides running, I also lift every single day which has helped me become a stronger runner. For college, my aspirations are to constantly progress and keep chasing faster times while building a family and running community within the school track team. Academically, I look to progress and continue to put more effort into keeping a strong academic record. To conclude I believe that I am a good recruit because the times and standings show per race that I am consistently progressing, getting faster and placing higher every race. This I believe separates me from other runners not only due to placement in large and important races but progress and mentality to do better. Thank you, Evan Bureau
