I first became interested in running in the 7th grade when my mom encouraged me to try out for the Cross Country team to just see how I liked it. Little did I know at the first practice that by the end of the season running would become an important part of my life. Through Cross Country and Track & Field, Coach Moore has taught me that a strong work ethic and endurance is a must for each sport I participate in as well as to be able to excel in my academic studies.
When I am competing in Cross Country, Track, or Basketball, there are times when I plateau or I haven’t performed my best due to shin splits, sickness or other minor injury. I just continue to train and I don’t give up. It always pays off when I run a race better than I thought I would, I reach a new PR or we complete a basketball play my team worked on.
2019 was a great start to High School track for me. My favorite event was the 800m which I ran a 2:22 at the first meet. I continued to run better and better throughout the season and advanced to the Missouri State track meet when I ran a 2:05 and placed 8th.
I believe I would be a good candidate for a team because I will work the hardest I can, I won’t give up, I have a lot of passion for what I’m doing, I enjoy the friendship and family a great team has and I want to be a top athlete in High School and on into College.
