I’m Jacob Finney, a senior at Creighton Prep. I would like to study engineering and run in college for a good program. I love the team aspect that I have at my high school and the sense of community we have and look forward to repeating that process again over my next 4 years. I am extremely driven and goal oriented when there is something that I want. Whether that be to hit a certain time, placement, or anything else, I will do everything I can to get that. I am dedicated to running through more than just the running or cross training that is needed to be great. I also focus on maintaining good sleep patterns, eating healthy, and hydrating properly whether it’s the day of a meet or in the middle of summer training. Like I said earlier, my goal oriented mindset that sets me apart from others. By setting goals and training hard, but more importantly smartly, I have been able to go from a below average runner in my grade to one of the best in the state. Going into my junior year, I told myself I was going to hit 300 miles over the summer, and I did exactly that. While it was tough at times to get out the door and run, I knew that I needed to do it if I wanted to see the success that I wanted. As I have progressed, I have embraced the process more and more. I have fallen in love with running and the process of getting better even if results do not come my way immediately. This past summer, there were very few days where I would not want to do more or push myself harder than what I was already doing, because I love the feeling of putting the work in even when no one is watching.
