I am Andrew Jeremiah Boakye, a rising junior sprinter at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey. I have been part of a successful Track and Field Program at Bergen Catholic for all 2 years of high school and am interested in running in college. My first year running track was Freshman year and I gained a love for the sport. However, I qualified for nationals my first year running track in the 100m, and with barely any experience I managed to accomplish running an 11.72. In my sophomore year, I qualified for New Balance Nationals Indoor my first time running indoors, in the 4x2 with my teammates Allan Hilton Clark, Kaj Sanders, and Logan Casey. I split a 22.6 my sophomore year, the year before I ran a 25.14 outdoor so big improvement there!
In the two spring seasons, I have been able to compete in the 100m, 200m, and Long Jump. In the 100m, I ran an 11.02 I pr by 0.7 seconds in one year. In the outdoor season for the 200, I ran a 22.6, freshman year I ran a 25.14. This year was my first time Long Jumping. I started at the end of the indoor season and I liked doing it so I pursued my long jumping career. I started jumping a 19-7.5 then towards the end of the outdoor season I was jumping at 20-1. I was able to go to the New Jersey State Meet of Champions to compete in the 4x1 to win the state championship, our team time was 41.69. I was in the 3rd leg and I split a 10.9.
Some of my accomplishments throughout my last 2 seasons I qualified for New Balance Nationals Outdoor Freshman year for the 100m, and qualified for Indoor New Balance Nationals for the 4x2 during my indoor sophomore year. I also qualified for the 100m Rising Stars at Nike Nationals, and the 4x1, I am an All-American for the 4x1 too, where we placed 5th. I was also the fastest sophomore in Bergen County since 2017. I was rewarded Rookie of the Year freshman year, the Bill Mcgee Award for Most Improved, and 2nd team all-county.
