I have been running track since I was about 7 years old. I would always sign up for the Hershey's Track Meet in the summers just as something fun to do. I first started organized track when I was in 5th grade. I ran my first 400m dash when I was in 7th grade, we had a run off in practice and I was made the anchor of our 4x4 team, I have run the 400 ever since.
I want to run college track because I think it is a great opportunity for me to excel at the college level. When I look at colleges I look for nice facilities and a place that just simply feels right. If a coach recruits me, I will not disappoint them I am a very hardworking and self motivated student and athlete. I will listen to the coach and do what they say. In practice I will always be one of the athletes at the front of the group setting the pace for others.
Academics is very important to me, I feel it is the first priority it comes before all sports. My belief is that if an athlete does not succeed in the classroom then they should not participate in their sport. For a very small amount of individuals athletics will be their career, but for 99% of us it will be something other than sports. This is the reason why athletes need to focus on academics just as much and more on academics as they do athletics.
I like track because I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that comes when your lungs are burning after you finish a workout or compete in a race. The adrenaline rush you get as the gun goes off and you race out of the blocks is a fantastic feeling! Track is fun and fulfilling sport.
