I started volleyball in the fall of 2021, eventually playing up an age group in the open division of club volleyball on The St James 16U. I started out playing soccer at the age of 5 where I later played travel soccer until the end of middle school. When I finally decided that soccer wasn't a great fit for me, that is when I learned about volleyball. Instantly falling in love with the sport, I started practicing every day in the heat of summer with help from youtube tutorials. I discovered weightlifting as a way to get stronger and jump higher in order to increase my physical capabilities in volleyball and found out how rewarding hard work can be. Within a year, I gained 7 inches on my vertical and almost 100 pounds on all of my lifts. My personal athletic goal by the end of high school is to graduate with a 44+ inch vertical and I know I can do it if I stay consistent with my improvement. I am currently enrolled in all possible Honors and AP classes, with A's across the board. My goal by the end of high school is to finish with a 4.0+ GPA and a 1450+ score on the SAT. In college, I would like to major in Chemical Engineering or something else in the science or business field.
As a newcomer to volleyball, a lot of practice was required to get to my current skill level. I knew I had to improve as fast as possible, as I didn't have nearly as much prior experience as other skilled players. Thanks to my athletic talent and good coordination, I've quickly picked up new skills through observation and repetition, such as hitting with my left hand, learning a float/topspin hybrid serve, and being able to hit the ground quickly and efficiently. I am currently looking for a college that is competitive both athletically and academically. I know that with my adaptive ability and athletic talent, I can make a significant impact on your team.
