Personal Statement
June 21, 2003, the day I watched my first water polo match. I was two weeks old and ever since the sport has been a big part of my life. My name is John Beamon, but I prefer to go by "Hayes." I am fifteen years old and live in downtown Atlanta. I play center/utility for my water polo teams and swim competitively year round. I was especially honored this year to receive my leagues’ MVP award, which is rarely given to a sophomore.
Being part of a big family has taught me a lot about the roles each of us play as part of a team. Our family mottos are: be kinder than necessary and leaders take responsibility. I am competitive and know how to work hard. Service is important to my family and this summer I’ll travel outside of the US for my third mission trip.
My intent is to attend a university with strong athletic and academic programs. As an honor student, my plan is to study marketing. These goals keep me motivated during 5:30 AM trainings.
