My goal as an athlete is to join a high tier water polo team and become a contributing player to the teams successes. I value the success of the team because if the team is succeeding then I am succeeding. This quality of mine as well as my love and passion for the sport has prompted my coach to give me the team captain spot my senior year(2023-2024). Some qualities that make me stand out from the crowd, is the ability to change how I think and react to match my coach, making for a highly coachable athlete. This has enabled me to develop and enhance my skills from every single coach I have had, I have even applied skills from other sports like baseball to my mechanics and functions in the water. I am tall, left-handed, and have a long wingspan, all of these I exploit when in the water. Using my strengths to overpower my weaknesses is the reason I was awarded Offensive Player of the year as a Sophomore. This made me the first underclassman in the team history to win this award, and I have continued to build on that and improve more. A key to my continued growth and improvement as a player, is how I adapt to use my environment and resources around me. For example, during the fall season in 2022 I was out with an injury for almost the whole season, and instead of sitting around and becoming miserable I used this as a way to improve my weaknesses. I was in the gym almost everyday becoming even stronger and I started working on using my right arm and becoming a confident player with both arms. This dedication is not limited to athletics I also apply my determination to the classroom and this has allowed to to maintain high grades throughout my high school career.
