Personal Statement

Athletic lefty with desire to contribute and excel. My name is Nola and I’ve loved playing softball since I was 5 years old. I am a coachable and determined player with a positive attitude and strong sense of teamwork. My desire to learn drives me to always give my best effort and I am constantly looking for ways to elevate my game.

I am proud of my abilities as a lefty slapper, my ability to hit for power and drive runs, and my high base running IQ. I primarily play 1B, my favourite position, and have the defensive instincts, arm strength and speed for outfield positions as well.

Softball is my true passion but I love playing all sports. I play high school basketball and played ice hockey for many years. In middle school I competed in all school athletics, including cross country, volleyball, basketball, flag football and track & field and was awarded Female Athlete of the Year in 2023.

I love any opportunity to coach in my softball and hockey communities and have completed Hockey Alberta coaching courses such as Respect in Sport (RIS) Activity Leader; RIS Keeping Girls in Sport; and Canadian Centre for Mental Health and Sport (CCMHS). I'm strongly committed to inspiring and motivating young players in sport.

Education is very important to me and I strive to be a model student-athlete. I am enrolled in the Self-Directed Learning Program at Bishop Carroll High School in Calgary, Alberta. My goal is to play softball at the college level in a supportive environment that allows me to pursue both academic and athletic excellence.
