Personal Statement

Going through many trials in my life have made me the player I am today.  Mistakes and hard times are what have molded me into a better player and overall a better person.   Although my parents have always supported me, I am most proud of earning every spot and starting position on my own.  Whether it was making AllStars as the youngest kid or switching teams, I never had any advantage, always working hard to prove my abilities to strangers. I have always played multiple sports including softball, gymnastics, CrossFit, volleyball and soccer.  When I first heard about softball as a 7 year old, I played the game for some fun with friends.  As I got older and more into the sport, I found softball as not only fun, but as a stress reliever and a way to live.  Not only did I find out more about who I am through softball, but I also found out about who other people are too.  I have made so many friends through softball who I couldn't imagine myself without.  I'm so grateful I play because it makes my life so much better every time I step onto the field.  Although I continue to play my other sports for fun, softball has my heart.

My goal for high school is to work hard both on and off the field.  My academics are just as important to me as playing softball.  In college, I will strive for the same goal, and make sure that I am focused and have a balanced life with sports and school.  I have had to give up many things to get where I am now, such as vacations and social events.  But it has been so worth it and if I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing.  Where I'm at now in softball is so much greater than anything else I could've done by not giving up those things.  If I hadn't made those sacrifices I would be a completely different person.  I put in the kind of effort I know will drive me far.  My positive attitude, relentless training, mental control and love for the game make me different than anyone else.   Coaches have said I am a smart ball player and allow me to call the plays.   My leadership skills on the field are what make me stand out from any other player.  I am able to get past any errors made and I know when to take control.  I work hard for what I want and can achieve anything I set my mind to.
