Alexandria Mailhi...Personal Statement
I have been playing softball for as long as I can remember. At the age of 5 I joined my town's little league team. I transitioned into Babe Ruth softball the following year at the age of 6 and have continued playing since. The softball field has always been a familiar place to me. Both of my parents play on local and travel teams exposing me to this sport at a very early age. I continue to play softball simply because of how it makes me feel when I play. I love stepping out onto the field with my teammates and taking pride in myself and my team.
As I look ahead to college I know that I would like to have a career in the medical field because it reflects my strong interest in helping to heal and care for people. There are many career opportunities that can be associated with helping people, but I want to focus on the medical field because of the personal connection that can be developed and maintained with patients. There are many professions in the medical field that will allow me to use my strong skill set in problem solving and communication. Being able to identify and solve a problem quickly is important to helping patients.
Learning and being at school is one of my favorite places to be. Math and science are my strongest subjects in school. Working hard and earning good grades is my top priority. I set my school work goals and study expectations high and challenge myself to maintain or exceed them. Setting academic and personal goals for myself gives me a way to structure and balance my life.

Yes. When I register for classes in the spring, I always choose honors classes over open classes when available for me to take.Are you in AP/IB classes?
Yes. I took one AP class during my sophomore year, one Running Start class during my junior year, and three AP classes my senior year. The AP class I completed in my sophomore year was US Government and Politics. The Running Start class I completed in my junior year was Anatomy and Physiology. - AwardsMy academic achievements include being on the honor roll every semester. I am also a member of the National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars and Honor Society.org
- ActivitiesThree year member of student council. Student Ambassadors program that assists incoming freshman and their parents to become better acclimated to their new school. I am also apart of a community service group called Volunteens which is run through a coalition for youth called Crispin's House. I just earned my first job at an early childcare development center.
