I started off in tee ball with a softball in my hand playing with a team full of girls. I remember that being a memorial moment for me because most tee ball teams are coed and start off with a tee ball instead of a softball!! I remember as a little girl always having a love for the sport, but most of all that bond that continued to grow between my dad and myself. Softball started as just a game but then it became a passion of mine that has opened the door to friendships that will last a lifetime.
I continued to play softball at the recreational level until the age of 8, that is when I was asked to play for a team known as the Red Hotz out of North Carolina, for Coach Bruno Godwin. I remember he approached my parents several of times after watching me play, until my parents decided to give it a go at travel ball. I was so excited and nervous at the same time because I knew no one on this travel team, and I remember that they asked me to come out and practice with them one afternoon to see if I would like to play. My fondest memory of that day was practicing on first base, that was before I hit a growth spurt, so I was a little tot, but regardless of what anyone said at that time I worked hard and never tried to let anything past me. I remember Coach was practicing a drill where his daughter had to throw it to me from third to first, his daughter hesitated and said coach she is little and I am scared I am going to hurt her, and he looked at her and said throw it too her with all your might I promise you she will catch it…. that honestly gave me the confidence to play a position that I love!! I played from that day on finishing out the season with the Red Hotz. I then picked up at the age of 10 playing for the Dixie Chix, a travel ball team out of Dillon County, SC . I recently made a switch to play with the LLG Skipper travel team.
I was selected to play varsity softball in the 8th grade, but unfortunately, I was not able to finish that season because of Covid. I was able to finish out my first complete season with the varsity softball team 20-21, and we had a very successful season. I made All-region and was asked to play in the North-South Game this past season, which as a freshman I realize what an honor it was. Our varsity softball team for Pee Dee Academy won SCISA 2A State Championship for the 2022 season, and I was proud to be apart of that achievement. We currently took the title of SCISA 3A State Champions, back-to-back titles is certainly something to be proud of. Although softball is my passion, I also enjoy playing other sports such as basketball and volleyball. I look at it as staying proactive in school and it keeps me motivated to keep my grades up and where they need to be.
I love softball, and always have! I am very blessed that I have parents and grandparents that fully support my love for the game. I have always told my parents that I wanted to play softball in college, and that is just what I am going to do!!!
