Personal Statement
Hi I’m Madilynn for short I go by Madi. I’m a type 1 diabetic. I was diagnosed in September of 2009. For the first couple years it was difficult to change my life in so many ways. A few years after I was diagnosed my parents worked to be able to get me a diabetic alert dog. He’s my best friend. Being able to learn and teach about what he does has taught me patients, teamwork, and respect for the animal world and those that work to teach these animals. It also taught me to work hard for anything and everything. It hasn’t always been easy living with diabetes, that’s why I love the game. It’s my world, it allows me to forget about the outside world and focus on myself and my team. Whenever I’m on the field I’ve got the biggest smile on my face because I’m having the best and funnest time. When my team is having fun so am I. Softball has kept me motivated to do good in school, because I know that if I didn’t have softball I would go a little bit insane. Playing in college would be a dream come true.
