Personal Statement

I am a current 9th grader and one of three freshman to be selected for the Western Branch High School Varsity squad. I am a black belt in karate.  Before softball, I played 4 years of travel baseball and dominated in pitching and hitting. I was pitcher and batter only on a local competitive baseball team and won a spot as a starting 3rd base with dedication and hard work. The team fell apart and it encouraged me to start my softball career. In baseball I played 1st and 3rd base, I was a starting pitcher and a top 3 batter.

After switching to softball this spring and in only my 2nd tournament I made the Top Gun All Star tournament in Myrtle Beach this past August for batting and won the home run derby. For softball I also play 1st, short, and 3rd base.  On my 14U squad, I was the #4 batter.  In the last month, I've been promoted to the 18U squad because of my superior play and am eager to compete at a higher level.

I have been watching college level softball recently through the World Series games and feel I can eventually compete on that level. My coaches have always said how coachable I am and how fast I learn and how good my baseball/softball IQ is. When I learned to pitch in baseball I was the starting pitcher after only a few months of lessons. I feel my karate background has given me strength, focus and balance also. I have learned through playing baseball/softball I can do anything I put my mind to and I never give up on what I want to achieve.
