Jenna Roberts '18 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing basketball since 4^th grade. At first, I played in my local park district league because my friends did, but after one season I fell in love with the game. When I first started playing I did not have a lot of basketball skills. In 6^th grade, I made my middle school team as the back up point guard and watching other girls play helped me to learn the game and motivated me to work hard so that I could become a starter the next year. I trained very hard during the off season and when 7^th grade tryouts came around, I was named starting point guard and held that position until Sophomore year when I was brought up to play varsity. I have been very lucky to have been a part of very successful teams (4^th place in State in 8^th grade and Conference Champs my Freshman year) which has taught me many lessons, such as teamwork, calmness under pressure and sportsmanship. I believe that those lessons will make me a perfect addition to any team. I feel like I will be able to contribute to a team at the next level as I am a hard worker who continues to train to further my skill set. Not only am I a successful athlete, I am also a successful student who is able to balance sports along with several Honors/AP courses. I plan to become a physical therapist after college and work with student athletes who have sustained sports related injuries. Being an athlete myself who has seen a physical therapist, I feel that I could relate to them. Playing basketball at the collegiate level has been a dream for me and I will continue to work very hard athletically and academically to achieve that goal.
