Personal Statement
My name is Madi Runnels and I am a 5’10” shooting guard/small forward from Johnson City, Tennessee. I will graduate in the class of 2020 and hope to play college basketball. I grew up playing club soccer, which I played through the eighth grade. My freshman and sophomore years I attended Providence Academy. On the court, I earned honors as Best All-Around Player and was added to the All-Region team as a freshman. As a sophomore, I received the Best Offensive Player award and again was named to the All-Region team. Providence Academy participates in the National Association of Christian Athletes tournament. As a freshman I was named NACA “New Comer of the Year”, and NACA All-American as a sophomore.
As a Junior, I transferred to Boone High School in Gray, Tennessee. I started every game of the season. Our team made it to the Regional Playoffs and I was named to the All-District Team. I have continued to maintain my grade point average, with a cumulative GPA of 3.945. From 8th through 10th grade I played for the Tennessee Chosen Few AAU team, coached by Damon Johnson. This spring, I will play for the Lady Copperheads based in Knoxville, Tennessee and coached by Deshaud Johnson. I am excited about my opportunities with this new organization.
I have continued to participate in soccer as well, earning All-District honors in the fall of 2018.
I enjoy learning about science and I aspire to work in the healthcare field in the future, possibly as a nurse.
