Lauren Hodges '23 Recruiting Profile

I aspire to attend college to study linguistics and international relations or international business. I am a good candidate for a collegiate team because I am committed, hardworking, and coachable. I had a gymnastics background from the 3rd - 8th grade, and only began diving in the 9th grade. I was (and still am) the only diver on our girls swim and dive team and was (and still am) required to also compete as a swimmer (I have competed in every event and am currently competing in  the 50M freestyle and 50M relay). As a freshman, I was able to learn the necessary dives, how to fill out a dive card, etc. through watching YouTube videos and with the help of a part-time coach. Though largely self taught, I was able to compete on varsity from my freshman year and have steadily progressed each season. Last season with the help of a dedicated diving coach, I was able to break my school's 11 dive record and qualified for State (CHSAA 5A). Additionally, I was exposed to both the 3M and 5M dives for the first time at a weeklong dive camp at the United States Air Force Academy this past summer and I really enjoyed diving at these different heights!
