Hi, my name is Sahana, I am a 16-year-old springboard diver with the Nepean Ottawa Diving Club. Welcome to my profile! My ultimate goal in my diving career is to be able to continue diving through college/university so I can continue to have fun, improve, work hard, and achieve new things.
When I was around 7 years old I was taking swimming lessons at a new pool, this was when I first saw the divers in the other pool training. I would hang around extra after my lesson just to watch and really wanted to try it, so my dad decided to sign me up and I instantly fell in love with the sport. I have been diving since the age of 8 years old with my coach Fernando Henderson. I dabbled around in many other sports and arts, such as figure skating, ballet, soccer, swimming, traditional dance, volleyball, and skiing, I still keep in touch with many of these but my main focus is on my diving career, though I sincerely believe these experiences help my diving and regular life every day. Diving is my happy place, I love the thrill of the sport itself, as well as pushing myself, working hard, and achieving new things in the sport every day, I like to take it day by day and try my best/give it my all.
Currently, I train for 3 hours every weekday on the pool deck, plus 3 hours a week of strength training in the gym alongside my trainer. In my remaining free time, I coach kids in the Learn to dive program, as well as kids in the Canskate program where I work with kids on the autism spectrum. At the moment I compete in 1m, 3m, and 3m synchro with my synchro partner Sofia. My short-term goals right now are to get my national qualifying scores as well as learn my 2 1/2 in all of the remaining directions on 3m, so I can have a full 2 1/2 list.
I am a junior at Earl of March Secondary School in Ottawa, Canada where I have a perfect 4.0 GPA and was awarded the silver medal for my Gr 10 grade average. As of right now, I know that want to go into STEM post-secondary. I am still trying different things but I currently looking at computer engineering and industrial design and would love to pursue either of them. Recently, I gained a lot of popularity on Instagram, where two of my reel videos hit over 1 million views! I plan to continue posting, in hopes that other people can see how much I love my sport, maybe learn something new, and possibly just be entertained. I would say my strengths include flexibility, power, uniqueness, being a team player, and being hard working.
I want to dive at a competitive college, where I can continue my love of diving and be part of a college team.
Regards
-Sahana
