Hi I am Kristine Tran and I am part of the graduating class of 2019. Before I started golf, I was a competitive swimmer and tennis player. However, I stepped back from those sports to pursue my passion for golf.
My golf career started when I was 10 years old. My dad took me out to the golf course one day and I was amazed by the…. golf carts. I had so much fun driving the golf carts around that it sparked my love for the game. I started playing competitively at the age of 12, and was able to improve my handicap index from 12 to 0.3. I play JGANC, JTNC, and AJGA tournaments.
In my freshmen year of high school, I tied first at my league championships (WCAL) with a score of 69 (-2). Unfortunately, in my sophomore year I fractured my foot during an individual tournament. During my junior year, I placed 4th at the Norcal Championships with a score of 72 (-1), and advanced to State Championships. I was a part of the First Team All League for all 3 years.
As a way to give back to my community, I volunteer at a local retirement center, and help out with different projects as a part of the Beautiful Day program. I also, reach out to tutor and mentor local elementary school students as part my community outreach leadership class.
School wise, I am interested in pursuing the business field in college. I have a 4.3 weighted GPA, and taking 3 weighted classes. I am the president of a business school, and a marketing director of a stocks club.
My goal is to improve my short game, especially 50 yards and in. I am determined to drain more putts to average more scores under par. I would like to play golf at the collegiate level and find a school that fits my athletic and academic abilities.
