My name is Danica (Dani) Maynard. I am a strong, confident and competitive woman who is driven by our family motto “working hard today to be better for tomorrow”. I understand that there is always room to learn and improve and I take advantage of all learning opportunities with coaches, teachers, my family and mentors.
Who is Dani Maynard?
I am a grade nine student at Penticton High School and for the first half of the season I was the assistant captain of the Okanagan Hockey Academy’s U17 Female Prep team. For the second half of the season OHA executive and coaches requested that I become a full time player for the Okanagan Hockey Academy’s U18 Female Prep team. Please read on to learn about my current interests, goals, hockey strengths, values and fun facts about me.

3.Anything outside in the winter, especially skating on our outdoor rink
My goals:
1.Play high level competitive hockey.
2.Graduate with a criminal justice law degree.
3.Continue to receive grades that place me on the honor role.
4.Become a mentor and leader to help guide others to be their best.
Hockey strengths:
1.I’m a powerful skater with Hockey IQ - reading, reacting and executing play at a fast pace using a balance of consistency and creativity.
2.I’m a 200 foot offensive/defensive player.
3.I am a defensive wall, while being an offensive threat.
4.I utilize controlled zone entry to create scoring opportunities.
5.I believe in the team, above individualism.
6.I have a positive and never quit attitude.
7.I encourage and motivate others to try their best.
8.I believe in the value of practice and off ice training.
9.I put in the extra time and work to achieve individual and team goals.
10.I understand that mistakes are a learning tool and use them to improve my performance.

Fun facts about me:
1.I started skating at 18 months old because I wanted to be just like my Dad & Brother.
2.I played on high level boys hockey teams until I was 13 years old.
3.I am competitive in nature and never quit. Family games nights can be entertaining in our household
4.Cale Makar is my favorite Defense player.
5.Connor Bedard is my favorite Offense player.
6.My top female role models are: Venla Hovi, Amanda Pelkey, Cassea Schols & Brianna Dekker.
