B Kafka Recruitin...Personal Statement
My name is Brylee Kafka and I have been playing hockey for 10 years and it is my favorite sport out of the 4 I do. My love for the game came from just skating, as neither of my parents played. I’ve dedicated all my free time to getting better and filling my summer with camps, on-ice, and off-ice training.
With the amount of hard work I have put into this sport, I want to continue competing at the collegiate level and play the game I love. I have brought my whole family together with the game of hockey and even got my little brother into the sport.
I’ve always been the odd one out at my school being 1 of the 5 that play hockey and 1 of 2 girls. In South Dakota, hockey isn’t the most popular sport, especially on the girls side. I want to be that role model for the younger girls in my state to know that it is possible to continue on. Hockey is a girls sport and we can excel at it too. I want to lead by example and show them that it is ok to go after your goals.
