Personal Statement

My name is Morgan Hughart, and I am a 14-year-old goalie with a passion for hockey, both on and off the ice. I am committed to growing as an athlete and pushing my limits to reach my collegiate goals. My aim is to play at the highest level possible while pursuing my academic interests, particularly in Mathematics, which I truly enjoy.

What sets me apart from other recruits is my dedication to both athletics and academics. On the ice, I’ve developed a strong work ethic and resilience through my years as a goalie, helping my teams succeed in challenging situations. I thrive under pressure, and my focus as a goalie is to not just stop the puck but to also be a reliable leader for my teammates. Off the ice, I hold a 4.0 GPA, and I’m disciplined in balancing my studies with sports.

Character is just as important to me as performance. I am humble, loyal, and hardworking, constantly striving to improve myself while supporting my teammates. I believe in leading by example, whether it's during practice or a game, and I’m always looking for ways to lift others up.

I know that being part of a collegiate hockey team requires more than just talent. My drive, love for the game, and commitment to personal growth make me an ideal candidate for your program, and I’m excited about the possibility of contributing to a team while pursuing my academic and athletic goals.

  • High Level Goalie Training: Event Overview This unique training program is designed to develop goalies as the “Team Quarterback,” focusing on zone breakout, supporting back checkers, and defensive zone leadership. Four goalies per age level (ages 11-17) are accepted into this intensive program, combining individual skill training with real game scenarios. Both boarding and day options are available. On-Ice Instruction Goalies will receive 24 hours of ice time from Monday to Saturday, beginning with a Monday evening evaluation and culminating in a final scrimmage on Saturday. Daily sessions will include power skating, rebound control, puck handling, angle play, and save selection. Advanced training tools such as screen boards and mirrors will be used to improve reaction time and form. Participants will also undergo personal video analysis with a CAN/AM coach for individualized feedback. Dedicated shooters from pro, junior, and AAA levels will challenge goalies throughout the program. Off-Ice Training Each day, goalies will spend 3 to 4 hours focusing on foot speed, agility, core strength, balance, flexibility, and hand-eye coordination. Mental training and visualization techniques will complement physical training. The program also includes a Team Challenge to foster cooperation and motivation. Interactive lectures will cover topics like goalie style, breakaway techniques, game focus, and pre- and post-game routines. Fitness testing for flexibility, endurance, and power will also be conducted.
